What is saint sampson?

Saint Sampson was a saint of Brittany in France, who lived in the 6th century. He was born in Wales and travelled to Brittany with his uncle, Saint Illtud. He became a monk at a young age and was known for his piety and wisdom.

He was chosen by King Childebert I of Paris to be the first Bishop of Dol in Brittany. He was known to have performed many miracles during his life, including healing the sick and curing those with mental illness.

Saint Sampson was also known for his humility and his love for the poor. He was said to have given away all his possessions to the needy and lived a simple life. He died in 565 and was buried in the church he had built in Dol.

He is the patron saint of Dol and is celebrated on July 28th in the Catholic Church. Saint Sampson is also venerated in the Eastern Orthodox Church as a wonderworker.
